Cebu is one of the most developed provinces in the Philippines, with Cebu City as the main center of commerce, trade, education and industry in the Visayas. Condé Nast Traveler Magazine named Cebu the 7th best island destination in the Indian Ocean-Asia region in 2007, 8th best Asian-Pacific island destination in 2005, 7th in 2004 and in 2009, with popular tourist destinations. In a decade it has transformed into a global hub for furniture making, tourism, business processing services, and heavy industry. Cebu is a royalty in it's economic, culture and tourist destinations. Like a table offering variety of foods Cebu renders tremendous places that can give you a royalty like experience. Traveling to a very beautiful place like Cebu will not be completed if you're not gonna experience it's best beaches that draws  lot of tourist to keep on coming back to Cebu.

Cebu is a province that we can consider as an "all in one place destination". Cebu can offer you from the best food that you could ever taste to the best destinations that you can't miss in the world. Let's unravel one of the best island destination that Cebu has always been proud of. Because of it's authenticity and it's calming horizon that can help you relax  and spend some unwinding moments from a stressful life that you have.

I heard stories about an island off the South Estaern Coast of Cebu. It is a romantic; back-to-nature island escape and it has a lush forest white sand beaches an good food.

It is called Suilon Island

A must visit when you are in Cebu. It is a beautiful secluded island located just off the south-eastern tip of mainland Cebu. From the Cebuano word, nisilong, meaning to seek refuge, Sumilon offers you just that.  Like how it was a shelter during the Japanese occupation, you would love to consider it your home away from home. My specific words for it were, “breathtakingly beautiful”.

The serenity surrounding tiny Sumilon (meaning “take refuge”) is a graceful invitation to open air seclusion. The island’s breathtaking ocean views, lush tropical environment, and tranquil seas give you the space and peace to unwind. Clear blue waters with varying aquamarine hues, shifting white sands and the popular coral gardens of its marine sanctuary provide that unique ambiance.

The 24-hectare coral island, located on the southeastern tip of Cebu, is home to Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort.

Sumilon Island has several white sand beaches, a lagoon, a hiking trail with sweeping panoramic views, a lighthouse, historical watchtower (baluarte), cave and other resort facilities including swimming pools that overlook the island of Cebu. Sumilon Resort can be reached by car, a three hour drive from Cebu City to Bancogon pier in Oslob town and from there, a 15-30 minute boat ride to the island. The boat ride is provided by the resort.

They made sure your stay would be far from boring. For the laidback, they have hammocks, lounge chairs, and rattan couches for you to just sink into and fall asleep, read a book, or simply just get lost in your thoughts as you watch the day go by.  They also have what seems to be the best spa venue imaginable, right by the water.Active types meanwhile, can channel their energy to a 15-20-minute hike around the island’s rocky (coral-ly) perimeter. Walk up to their water tower and check out the baluarte or watch tower from the Japanese time. Search for the cave where Yamashita allegedly hid his treasure or spend a quiet moment by the grotto.

Sumilon Island also has a shifting sand bar. It changes shape depending on the tide, and it practically disappears during high tide, which happens in the morning so it’s perfect to go there in the afternoon and watch the sky’s hues become deep violets and pinks as the sun sets. This is why a private dinner is offered for an extra fee.

Cebu has indeed a lot to offer depending what your tastes are. It's a place where there's a lot to explore to and a place where you just can't get enough but to keep on coming back. Go and unravel some wonderful paradise in Cebu like the Sumilon Island which I'm pretty sure can give you a remarkable experience like you never had before.
